Mechanical Analysis EngineerJob DescriptionThis position involves evaluating the control rod drive systems' response to various design and operational changes. The CRD components are typically modeled in ANSYS with time-based inputs to predict system responses. Evaluation techniques have been automated using scripting and other advanced methods. All work complies with quality plans that include specific verification practices.Responsibilities
Perform linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluations to predict system responses and resulting loads for reactor systems and internal components.
Create and evaluate analysis models using ANSYS, ANSYS APDL, and similar numerical simulation codes.
Review archive records and assess the impact of design and operational changes on conclusions within those records.
Provide clear and comprehensive analysis documentation in accordance with engineering procedures.
Effectively communicate the status of work activities to leadership.
Essential Skills
Dynamic analysis
Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and APDL
Stress analysis
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical analysis using ANSYS
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Structural analysis
Experience in high-temperature component analysis (Div 5)
Proficiency in working between time and frequency domains
Experience in computer-simulated load evaluations
Work EnvironmentThe position offers a fully remote work environment with some limited travel. It involves supporting R&D efforts for next-generation nuclear reactor technology. The role is project-based with time and schedule constraints, requiring efficiency and effectiveness to meet scope, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, North Carolina.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
