Job Overview:The KRUNK Dance Coach is a highly motivated and experienced individual that will work closely with the KRUNK Movement Program (ages 14 - 18) and Jr. Bop! (ages 5 - 14) for the 2024 summer season. This individual will help program participants develop their technical skills in hip hop dance performance, artistic expression, and stage presence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students achieve their goals and have a proven track record of success in dance education.Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with enrolled KRUNK & Jr. Bop! students to develop their skills in urban dance techniques, styles, and routines.
  • Show students how to engage with an audience, use their movement effectively, and convey emotions through their performance.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate feedback to help students improve their performance skills.
  • Lead creative and engaging choreography with a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with Center of Life staff members to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in planning and executing projects, events, and performances.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust coaching techniques as needed.
  • 6 - Week full-time commitment to Center of Life's summer programming with preliminary staff orientations. [Schedule: M - W 8:00am - 4:00pm, Th 11:00am - 7:00pm, F 8:00am - 4:00pm]
General COL Expectations:
  • Participate as an active member of Center of Life staff.
  • Adhere to all Center of Life policies and procedures.
  • Attend COL staff meetings, retreats, and mandatory events.
  • Meet bi-weekly 1:1 with Immediate Supervisor (KRUNK Program Coordinator).
  • Adhere to the security, accuracy and operability of the daily communication and program reporting needs of COL.
  • Contribute to the development of a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Professional dance experience and/or education of 3 years minimum.
  • Experience working in an educational setting, or working directly with children aged K-12.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner.
  • High energy, flexibility, willingness to collaborate, and proactively engage with children to build positive inter-generational relationships.
  • Pennsylvania criminal and child abuse clearances, FBI criminal background, PA Mandated Reporter Certificate and National Sex Offender Registry clearance.
  • Commitment to the mission of COL.
  • Classification: non-exempt.
