Hiring pay range: $20.50 - $25/hourPosition Description: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean appearance of UMOM facilities, the turning of client rooms, completion of work orders, as well as the general and preventative maintenance of UMOM facilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling of all UMOM owned facilities, including electrical, plumbing, appliance, drywall, painting, and other maintenance related projects. Work may include or be similar to the following:
  • Ensures all UMOM properties are free of trash and trip hazards.
  • Ensures all lighting is in proper working condition.
  • Cleans equipment and work areas.
  • Paints a variety of indoor/outdoor surfaces using brushes, spray guns, and rollers.
  • Repairs or replaces leaking and defective roofing using materials such as roll roofing, roof coating, primer sealers, flashing, etc., and installs roofing tiles.
  • Repairs doors, door checks, and locks.
  • Makes routine electrical repairs such as replacing motors, exhaust fans, lighting fixtures, electrical outlets, appliances, light switches, and ballasts.
  • Performs plaster work and does patch plastering on old wall surfaces.
  • Performs routine welding.
  • Performs rough, finished, and bench carpentry using shop equipment and power tools such as drills, saws, sanders, planers, air mailers, routers, and radial arm saws.
  • Builds tables, cabinets, shelves, and desks from rough sketches and blueprints.
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of water, heating, and drainage systems.
  • Installs pre-hung, slab, wood-framed, and metal doors and window frames.
  • Installs new flooring such as wood, linoleum, carpet, or tile.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on cooling and air distribution systems.
  • Pours concrete to make floors, walkways, pads or other projects.
  • Lays building materials, such as brick, tiles, block, glass, and gypsum.
  • Interacts with clients and staff to determine maintenance, repair or remodeling requirements and preferences.
  • Ensures all work orders are completed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts efficient and effective room turns per standards for all shelter units at UMOM sites.
  • Notifies Facilities Manager of any safety issues related to the UMOM owned facilities.
  • Participates in monthly trainings for safety, operations, and maintenance.
Qualification and Competency Requirements:Experience and Education
  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in basic repairs and maintenance for 1-2 of the following building maintenance fields: electrical, carpentry, plumbing, appliances, HVAC, drywall, and/or painting
  • Experience as a maintenance technician preferred

  • This position is very active and requires remaining in a stationary position and/or moving for a majority of the workday. The person in this position frequently operates equipment, ascends/descends stairs and ladders, positions self to accomplish essential tasks, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and reaching all day. The employee must frequently move and transport items over 50 pounds. The duties of this job require regular exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
Compliance
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Valid AZ Driver's License and a driving record that falls within UMOM's policy
  • 50/100 level of car insurance coverage (mileage reimbursement available)

Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is 5 days per week, (no weekends), 6 am - 3 pm.
