In this vital VP role, you will lead the late clinical development strategy, planning and decision making for the Rare Disease therapeutic area (TA) as well as collaborate closely with counterpart leaders in Research, Early Development, Medical Affairs and Commercial functions to advance the Rare Disease pipeline and champion and contribute to business development opportunities in the Rare Disease area.You are responsible for prioritization of staff engagement and development activities while actively pursuing diversity in thought as well as inclusion of people with different backgrounds within the TA. This position will report to Global Development VP of Rare Disease.ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic, scientific and people leadership for the Rare Disease development pipeline and marketed productsOversee late clinical programs within the Rare Disease area, defining the portfolio vision and strategy and mobilizing the team to execute against itServe as a senior advisor or executive sponsor for functional, cross-functional and/or corporate initiativesCritically evaluate business development opportunitiesEstablish and nurture key strategic partnerships including public-private and private-privateChair the TA Technical Review Committee for the disease area, driving cross-functional advice and providing approval for the scientific design of clinical trialsCreate and maintain highly motivated development teams through leadership, people management and coaching with a focus on career developmentEnsures effective performance management of direct reports through comprehensive goal setting, regular performance reviews, as well as direct and timely feedbackFoster a culture that attracts and retains the best talentSupport staff diversity, inclusion and belongingManagement of budget, processes, and peopleCoaching and mentoring and developing scientific talentWinWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.
