- Responsible for developing strategic sourcing processes including, spend analysis, supply market analysis, negotiations, sourcing strategies, and supplier relationship management.
- Develop and implement a global strategic strategy aligned with Nidec's business goals.
- Implement and maintain standard processes that support a robust governance framework for procurement activities.
- Analyzing and calculating procurement costs, and forecasts and developing cost reduction strategies.
- Driving purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, develop standard terms and agreements, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term relationships that drive value and innovation.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective negotiation, supplier collaboration, and process improvements.
- Analyze market trends, benchmarking, and financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
- Lead efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address supplier performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and operational factors.
- Manage and improve total cost for Direct materials.
- Develop contingency plans to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Lead a high-performing global procurement team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture. Work through an organizational matrix within the NP&A business.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, promoting professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in procurement. Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure procurement practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Establish KPIs for the procurement function.
- Regularly report on procurement performance, cost savings, and other relevant metrics to executive management.
- Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain management, logistics management, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive procurement experience in a global supplier quality engineering role or global procurement/supply chain role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing large castings, complex weldments, and/or electrical controls.
- Extensive experience in strategic procurement and supplier development, in a global context.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive cost savings.
- Ability to analyze large data sets from various sources to develop reporting using tools including Excel Pivot tables, formulas, and statistical tools, including forecasting, regression analysis, and standard deviation.
- Proven experience in directly or indirectly leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Familiarity with ethical sourcing and sustainable procurement practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Demonstrated business and financial acumen.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally by up to 25% to visit NP&A locations and to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
