- Teaching: We seek an outstanding educator with a growing record of pedagogical achievement and professional development. The ideal candidate is an engaging, insightful, dynamic speaker who can inspire students and create an inclusive learning environment that respects the needs and perspectives of all individuals. The post requires in-person teaching on campus and is not remote. The faculty member will teach three classes per semester.
- Active Scholarship: The ideal candidate maintains active scholarship, has a growing publishing record and a clear plan for ongoing research.
- Broad Competencies: The department seeks someone with the capacity to teach a range of survey courses as well as specialized courses in art and design history. The department has regular teaching needs in Western, Asian, African, and American art histories, as well as the history of modern design, animation, video games, illustration, crafts, fashion, graphic design, film, photography, interior design, etc. – the ability to move comfortably in a number of these areas is essential.
- Curriculum Development: The ideal candidate has a record of collaboration with colleagues developing and refining curricula, incorporating the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies.
- Technical Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of Canvas and online course design principles is essential. A readiness to assist colleagues in this regard is also desirable.
- Mentorship: Experience providing guidance and mentorship to adjunct faculty is an advantage.
- Candidates must hold a doctorate degree in art history, design history, or visual culture and have at least three years of post-doctorate, post graduate assistantship teaching experience in a relevant field.
- Documentation of effective course development and delivery, from initial concept, to syllabus, to student or administrative course evaluations.
- Documentation of proven technical proficiency with Canvas or similar, evidence of teaching and developing successful, entirely online courses, undertaking training and certification.
- Evidence of recent scholarly activity, including significant publications in relevant areas, as well as awards, grants, invited talks, etc.
- Documentation of participation in professional development activities, such as seminars, training, etc.
- Documentation of outstanding teaching – this might include awards, evaluations, publications or presentations about teaching methods, etc.
- Proven track record of effectiveness in teaching neurodiverse students and those from diverse backgrounds – this might include undertaking relevant training, student or administrative evaluations.
- Successful candidates must be demonstrably committed to working with diverse student and community populations.
