- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED is required
- Active National Pharm Tech Cert (CPhT). Approved cert is through Pharm Tech Cert Board (PCTB) (Required) OR ExCPT Cert by the National Healthcare Association is required.
- Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.
- Up to 1 year of experience as Pharmacy Technician. No hospital experience required.
- Must be able to compound sterile products and maintain a sterile environment.
- Familiarity with shipping software (preferred), ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent phone etiquette, including clear communication, active listening, professionalism, and empathy when interacting with patients and providers
- Strong data entry skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in processing prescriptions, inventory, and patient information
- Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of compounded sterile products, including CHEMOTHERAPY AND HAZARDOUS medications while following current guidelines and policy (USP 797, USP 800, ASHP, NIOSH and Board of Pharmacy laws and regulations) and department procedures. Performs hand hygiene and garbing and cleaning and disinfecting of the hoods and room according to policy and keeps accurate cleaning logs. Prioritizes IV medication production appropriately and disposes of IV and chemotherapy/hazardous waste. Adheres to all safety requirements when handling, preparing, labeling, and disposing of chemotherapy and hazardous medications.
- Assists in non-sterile medication preparation by selecting, counting, compounding, packaging, scanning, labeling, filling, and delivering medications per department guidelines. Selects the appropriate medications and accurately labels. Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients by using proper calculations, equipment, and technique. Works Automated Dispensing Machine, able to load/refill/unload, outdate, and resolve discrepancies. Stock Orders/Emergency Carts/Boxes: and accurately fills in a timely manner. Accurately and efficiently transports medications from the pharmacy to areas outside of the pharmacy (tubing, cart delivery, IV Run, STAT, etc.).
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate controlled substances (CII-CV) inventory and for reviewing and maintaining controlled substance records. Immediately reports unresolved controlled discrepancies to a supervisor.

- Optimizes workflow by efficiently and accurately completing job duties and prioritizing workload. Has a good overall job knowledge and uses good technical and procedural judgment. Assists with other duties as necessary for efficient pharmacy operations. Shows initiative and flexibility in carrying out day to day tasks. Utilizes appropriate and logical problem solving techniques. Indentifies critical issues and communicates to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Appropriately uses pharmacy technology. Follows department standards of work, policies, and workflows. Maintains the pharmacy automation (changing consumables, cleaning, etc.). Identifies, troubleshoots, and reports pharmacy automation issues. Accesses patient information, processes in-basket Rx Messages, and prints labels in the Electronic Health Record.
- Responds politely and professionally to pharmacist/nursing/physician/patient or other requests via telephone, in writing, or in person. Appropriately manages, triages, and ensures timely follow-up of all requests. Assists in the training of new employees.
- Must be a Pharmacy Technician II to be eligible to move into the Pharmacy Technician III position
- Required to train in compounding sterile hazardous medications and to be available to compound hazardous medications when the need arises
- Will be working with hazardous and toxic substances
- This position is an outpatient role in a closed-door pharmacy, with primary patient communication via telephone.
