- Responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork is complete before the procedure by gathering insurance-related paperwork such as pre-authorizations and forms indicating patient consent and personal and medical information.
- Manage the prospective patient’s medical records, inputting and updating patient’s insurance information, scheduling procedures from the physician’s office using established hospital guidelines, and ensuring sufficient information is distributed to the patients and all necessary parties, including hospital departments, primary-care physician, and surgeon, through productive open communication.
- In addition, enrolls patients in Force Therapeutics (patient navigation system).
- Responsible for maximizing block time utilization when scheduling cases. Will ensure every effort is made to backfill surgical cancellations.
- Must be organized and meticulous and have a sharp eye for detail. Exhibit a tactful, professional attitude toward patients and be able to juggle several tasks at the same time, adapting easily to circumstances and changes in schedules in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Maintains the office OR schedule for daily accuracy. Reviews all schedule changes with the surgeons to ensure they have provided final approval for all scheduled cases. Informs the Manager of all proposed and confirmed changes in the surgeon’s schedules that may affect practice operations.
- Other duties as necessary include patient registration. Performing all functions associated with scheduling appointments for patients. Communicating with patients, physicians, other staff members by telephone. Collecting payments. Solving scheduling problems, schedules special diagnostic tests for clinic patients as per provider’s orders. Communicates directly with the testing service or department and confirms the appointment with patients. Obtains screening information from patients as needed for MRI testing and ensures that this information is communicated to Radiology. Informs the patient of the scheduled date of procedure. Ensures that patient is scheduled for a follow up provider appointment following the test.
- Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR).
