Sales Representative - Food Distribution
Location: Bridgeview, IL
Compensation: Base salary plus commission and bonus
Total compensation typically ranges from $85,000 to $150,000, depending on your skillset, experience, and ability to sell
About the Role
This role is built for someone who knows how to build and maintain relationships in the food industry. You'll split your time between managing an existing group of customers and bringing in new business. About half your time will be spent deepening relationships, upselling, and keeping current clients happy. The other half? Going after new accounts, expanding your book, and growing your territory.
This is a hybrid role. You'll attend in-person sales meetings when needed, but the rest of your time is spent where you need to be-out with customers, growing your pipeline, and following up. The company covers mileage and cell phone expenses to make that easier.
You'll report to a strong sales manager who brings structure, accountability, and real support to the team. If you're used to the food distribution world-especially protein or perishable sales-you'll hit the ground running.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and grow a mix of existing foodservice accounts
  • Upsell current clients and increase order volume through solid service and consistent follow-up
  • Develop new customer relationships and build out your own book of business
  • Meet with buyers, chefs, and foodservice decision-makers
  • Handle orders from start to finish, making sure things move smoothly
  • Track trends, pricing changes, and product availability
  • Work closely with customer service, logistics, and leadership to deliver on promises
  • Participate in team meetings and stay aligned with the company's sales strategy
What You'll Need
  • Background in food distribution, protein, produce, or similar industries
  • Previous sales experience in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
  • Strong follow-up skills and ability to stay on top of details
  • Comfortable handling both existing accounts and business development
  • Able to prioritize and manage time independently
  • Solid communication skills with customers and team members alike
  • Familiarity with the Chicago food market is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the territory
