Essential Duties1. Brand & Communications Strategy. Develops and executes public relations strategy, output, and performance for the department with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific and alumni media. Creates communications strategy to showcase top technologies available for license. Ensures consistent look and tone for all department communications, including written content, website and social media. 2. Media Relations. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with media representatives. Identifies opportunities to work with other the departments, university publications and the Office of Public Affairs to develop and publicize stories. 3. Content Creation. Assesses the University faculty inventions and student startups for newsworthiness and create compelling news and public relations content. Creates engaging, dynamic content for the public, including press releases, blog articles, website updates, newsletter articles and social media. 4. Outreach. Manages delivery channels for newsworthy content, including updating and maintaining the department websites, social media accounts, and articles for email newsletters, and creating video, print, and on-campus events. Creates websites that embed existing content from Yale and external sites (publications related to the technology, videos featuring inventor, profile on Yale Bulletin and Calendar innovators webpage). 5. Other. Seeks out, negotiates with and recommends external organizations that can provide services that optimize both the cost and functionality of the new communications strategy. Ensures that all communications conform to the University guidelines. Hires student workers as needed to assist in producing copy. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.The Digital Communications Officer will manage social and digital media activities, provide brand and graphic support for web assets, publications, presentations, campaigns, and events. The Digital Communications Officer will assist with managing and implementing the yearly communications plan for Yale Health, under the direction of the Director of Communications.Responsibilities include:
Social Media: Manage social media activity and campaigns for Yale Health. Maintain and coordinate the continued development of Yale Health's social media sites. Work with director and other internal staff to curate stories and posts on appropriate channels. Point person for providing responses for inquiries, comments, etc. Continually evaluate effectiveness of program and provide analytical and statistical data as needed/requested, from specific-channel platforms. Evaluate and advise on emerging social media opportunities on various channels.External Website: Under the direction of the Director Communications, manage updates and revisions to public-facing website. Manage and provide regular analytical data to department and senior leaders.Internal Website: Manage updates and revisions to employee internal website. Work with internal teams to ensure various department needs are met.Internal Communications: Works with director to develop and disseminate weekly internal newsletter(s) using Yale Message platform. Works with various department Chiefs and Managers, in conjunction with Director of Communications, to develop and disseminate various communications internal newsletters using Yale Message platform. Creates miscellaneous communications collateral as needed and directed. Develop PowerPoint and various presentations for Department and assists other departments, as requested. Assists with order placement of communications-related items for various departments in Yale Health, as requested/needed. Represents department on internal committees as requested. Assists with other communications responsibilities as assigned.External / Member Communications: Works with director to develop and disseminate e-newsletter(s) using Yale Message platform. Works with various department Chiefs and Managers, in conjunction with Director of Communications, to develop and disseminate various communications, including e-newsletters using Yale Message platform. Creates miscellaneous communications collateral as needed.Internship Program: Assist Director of Communications with managing the department's internship program. Interviewing, selecting interns for program. Manage day to day tasks and projects of intern(s).Miscellaneous: Serve as a videographer and photographer for departmental projects and initiatives.
