
Process Control Engineer

- System Support by maintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of process control systems, including hardware, software, and interfaces.
- Modify systems to accommodate new inputs or implement ideas for continuous improvement.
- Address issues that may impact production or system reliability.
- Oversee real-time computer control and monitoring of steel mill processes.
- Maintain and upgrade computer hardware and software, including modernization of existing systems.
- Administer operating systems such as Windows, OpenVMS, and Linux.
- Manage relational databases including Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
- Work with networking technologies, including Cisco and Palo Alto, high-speed data transmission, and specialty computer interfaces.
- Develop, implement, and maintain computer models for mill processes involving chemical, metallurgical, or mechanical systems.
- Participate in project work, including planning, engineering design, hardware configuration, software development, testing, and system start-up.
- Stay informed of quality and reliability issues and work with vendors to address product and performance concerns.
- Remain current with advancements in industrial control technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- At least 2 years of engineering experience in an industrial environment.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and SQL.
- Knowledge of process control systems, including SCADA, HMI, PLCs, drives, PID loop control, and control communication strategies.
- Basic understanding of computer networking and routing.
- Demonstrated ability to create, modify, and troubleshoot complex control logic and advanced control applications.
- Manufacturing or steel industry experience
