- Manage, design, checkout, and commission PLC-controlled equipment in the metals industry, including material handling systems, process control systems, and more.
- Understand and program PLC and HMI code and relate it to machine or process operation.
- Study schematics, equipment layouts, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation and wiring procedures.
- Install or oversee the installation of equipment per manufacturer's specifications.
- Consult with mechanical engineering personnel to resolve operational and maintenance issues.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment using standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Instruct and direct workers in building OEM equipment.
- Supervise client's personnel in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment for optimal performance.
- Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, and product improvement suggestions.
- Travel up to 25% based on project workload.
- Collaborate with equipment manufacturing personnel to develop conduit layouts, shipping splits, and checkout procedures.
- Work in a heavy industrial environment.
- Provide system training post-installation.
- Build long-term relationships with customers.
- Answer customer support calls post-shipment and liaise with mechanical project engineers on technical issues.
- Coordinate with in-house panel shop and electricians to build control panels and test wiring.
- Manage designers and automation engineers assigned to projects.
- Implement and follow project schedules and budgets in conjunction with the mechanical project manager.

- Ability to read and modify PLC coding

- Exposure to programming, designing, and commissioning PLCs, drives, and automation systems
- Interest in mechanical systems
- Good communication skills
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, and Wonderware platforms
- Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Experience with AutoCad Electrical
- AC and DC drive systems commissioning
- Process line and robotic experience
- Experience in steel, automotive, paper, plastics, or food industries
