- Collaborate with technical leadership to influence architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy.
- Contribute to enterprise standards, best practices, and reusable components across engineering teams.
- Drive initiatives that improve code quality, system performance, and engineering efficiency
- Provide mentorship to junior developers, conduct code reviews, and lead by example in technical excellence.
- Participate in roadmap planning and align engineering efforts with business priorities.
- Own delivery of complex features and enhancements from design through deployment in production
- Contribute to risk assessment, mitigation planning, and incident response strategies in critical systems.
- Representing engineering team in cross-functional discussions with stakeholders, senior management, and partners
- Write clean, well-tested & secure code, exhibit ownership from requirements to development.
- Deeply understand existing architecture on the back end as well as the front-end side to be able to enhance and improve architecture going forward with a key focus on scalability and quality.
- Sharp focus on gaining an in-depth understanding of the requirements around user experience to be able to deliver high quality, cross-platform optimized and responsive web front-end experience.
- Focus on getting the required depth of functional expertise to be able to effectively suggest solutions to business problems/requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with designers, engineers, product management and business stakeholders to deliver & enhance new/existing capabilities.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies as needed and apply them to business solutions. Stay abreast of new/upcoming technologies in the market.
- Detail orientation with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proactive ownership, troubleshooting and resolution of issues as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with NYL security standards.
- Experience with the ReactJS framework, HTML5, and CSS3 is a must.
- Experience with C#, Java, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Experience with content management is a plus.
- Experience in designing and implementing microservices is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of designing secure and performant RESTful APIs, with expertise in authentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth, JWT, SSO).
- Strong expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Familiarity with DevOps principles, including version control (Github), and CICD.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying technical gaps and proposing actionable solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey ideas across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or another related technical field
- Candidates who have completed full stack development/coding bootcamps or equivalent industry recognized certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer or Solutions architect) will also be considered in lieu of a technical undergraduate degree.
- A master's degree in computer science or related field or any other higher degree preferred, but not mandatory.
