
Senior Wetland Scientist

- Conduct wetland delineations and prepare aquatic resources delineation reports.
- Wetlands permitting (e.g., CWA Section 404 and 401).
- Perform assignments requiring interpretation and application of federal, State, and local environmental regulations.
- Lead wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping.
- Conduct special-status species surveys.
- Lead environmental compliance monitoring teams, including coordinating with project managers, engineers, construction contractors and conducting worker environmental awareness programs.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret ecological data, providing support for project reports and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of field observations and data collection processes.
- Utilize GIS software to map and analyze spatial data, contributing to habitat assessments and environmental impact studies.
- Work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver.
- Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.
- Stay informed about current environmental regulations, conservation practices, and scientific advancements in the field.
- Conduct review of technical reports prepared by others.
- Preparing and implementing mitigation, restoration, and monitoring plans
- Special-status species permitting (e.g., ESA Section 7 biological assessments; etc.)
- Avian surveys
- Tree inventories.

- BA/BS in Biology, Wetland Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education focusing on natural resource/wetlands projects, conducting wetland delineations, writing aquatic resources delineation reports, and/or related permitting/regulation in Oregon or PNW (e.g. CWA 401/404).
- Ability and desire to perform occasional fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions.
- Applicant must be available and willing to work out of town as needed.
- Valid U.S. Driver's license required for this role; as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record in preparing environmental permitting applications and technical reports, including prior experience with Sections 401/401 of the Clean Water Act, Oregon Removal-Fill Law, Oregon Antidegradation Policy, and local land use regulations.
- SWS Professional Wetland Scientist
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of special-status plants and wildlife in Oregon and SW Washington, and associated state and federal environmental protections.
- Experience working with construction crews and field engineers.
- Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
