It is comprised of team members who are highly collaborative and committed to a culture of work/life balance and continual learning and development.Position OverviewAnnalect is seeking a Lead Engineer, Back-End to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team working on designing and building AI agents. In this role, you will help push our AI expertise and help the team stay up to date with the latest developments in the Generative AI field. As part of clean engineering oversight, you will be responsible for auditing engineering approaches, disseminating knowledge and introducing processes and standards. You will be encouraged to research and promote new technical solutions and approaches to support AI development.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage cross-discipline teams that are developing AI agents. Collaborate with engineers, prompt engineers, product owners, UX designers, DevOps engineers and QA engineers to design various AI solutions.
  • Build AI agents specializing in various data-driven decision-making. Aid in planning product development and timelines. Guide the latest software engineering approaches.
  • AI Engineering Standards & Architecture: Standardize the AI agent development process where needed and allow local differences where advantageous.
  • Coaching junior talent: Perform code reviews and provide leadership and guidance to junior developers. Create tutorials and template writing that serve as standards for product building.
  • R&D And Technical Training Program: Research the latest developments in LLMOps and diffusion models and evangelize the new trends across the team. Establish trainings on engineering standards and help all team learn the new techniques.
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • 7+ years of solid coding experience
  • Strong expertise in Python back-end development. Experience with RESTful APIs. Experience with Linux/Unix Systems and fluency in bash.
  • Passion and familiarity with the latest techniques in working with LLMs and diffusion models.
  • Ability to write high-quality documentation and draw architecture diagrams of the software
  • Passion for writing high-quality reusable and modular software. . contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new or existing systems
  • Additional back-end experience welcome, but not required: Experience with the microservices, containers (Docker), container orchestration (Kubernetes), serverless computing (AWS Lambda), and distributed/scalable systems; Good understanding of data structures and algorithms; Experience processing and analyzing large data sets. Experience with building CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with working with data and databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, Redis, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery); ML experience welcome

Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, benefits include: health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, 401(k), Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, vacation days, sick days, personal days, paid parental leave, paid medical leave, and STD/LTD insurance benefits.Compensation Range$119,000—$170,000 USDThis role is hybrid, requiring three (3) days per week in the office. The remaining two (2) days may be worked remotely. Specific in-office days will be discussed during the interview process, with flexibility to align with team needs. Please note that the number or required in-office days may be adjusted over time, potentially increasing the number of required in-office days based on business needs.
