The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries. This is a weekend option position and will be assigned to the inpatient orthopedics setting.Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients with complex or specialized orthopedic/post-surgical needs.
  • Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students.
  • Exhibit divisional and/or departmental leadership by: Serve as a clinical resource and maintain high level of clinical productivity.
  • Participate in clinical research and collaborate on special projects.
  • Assist with setting and accomplishing divisional/departmental goals and assists management as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and expand learning opportunities and skills development for staff and students.
  • Assist in establishing new programs, as well as maintaining and developing current programs.
  • Assist in the administration of the departmental Quality Assurance Program.
  • Participate in the development of service operations, policies, and procedures.

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility is home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. This state-of-the-art clinical facility also includes a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. Changing Lives.Percent of Time: 60%, 24 hours per week Weekend OptionStaff Type: SEIUType of Position: Part Time-Weekend OptionSchedule: Friday 3:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday/Sunday 7:00am-5:30pmLocation: North Liberty CampusWeekend Option Program: The selected candidate will be required to work a specified weekend work schedule, which includes 24 hours each weekend. During each six-month period, you will be scheduled for 24 weekends, with two (2) weekends off - to be arranged with the manager. Participation in the program requires a minimum commitment of six (6) months. As part of the program, you will receive a differential for hours worked between 3:00pm Friday and 7:30am Monday. The weekend option differential is fifty percent (50%) of the regular hourly rate. You may also be eligible for shift differential for eligible hours.Benefits Highlights:

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor's degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required
  • Entry level experience in physical therapy in an inpatient acute care setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredLicenses/Certifications:Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is requiredDesirable Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years experience in Physical Therapy
  • 1-3 years experience in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting
  • Experience in critical care
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated leadership in a work or academic setting
