Skilled Network Administrator with a strong focus on firewall administration, specializing in the support, maintenance, and optimization of Palo Alto Networks security platforms. Experienced in configuring and managing next-generation firewall policies, security profiles, and threat prevention features to safeguard enterprise environments. Provides ongoing operational support, including rule set audits, software updates, log analysis, and incident response. Actively contributes to network security projects such as segmentation and VPN deployments. Works closely with security teams to ensure compliance, visibility, and alignment with policies. Committed to maintaining a secure and resilient network perimeter through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.POSITION SUMMARY:Performs and/or monitors the work of others in configuring, maintaining and monitoring network and converged voice hardware and software, including switchers, routers/gateways and firewalls and performing network/voice management functions to facilitate efficient and effective use of system resources. Responsible for network address assignment, routing protocols and routing table configuration and configuration of authentication and authorization directory services. Maintains network facilities. May maintain certain network/voice servers, file servers, VPN gateways and intrusion detection/prevention systems.IMMEDIATE MANAGER: Manager, Network & Telecommunication ServicesSUPERVISION/DIRECTION RECEIVED: General SupervisionREQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Proficient – Working understanding of the required competencies with demonstrated skills and abilities to successfully apply them under general supervision.Knowledge of:
  • Administration and maintenance of network operating systems and applications
  • Network architecture, design, integration and protocols including TCP/IP/EIGRP/OSPF/STP and bridging.
  • Voice architecture, design, integration and protocols including UDP/RTP/RTCP
  • Network/Voice performance and monitoring tools.
  • Data storage and communications.
  • Networked/distributed computing environments.
  • Operating system commands and utilities.
Skill in:
  • Developing, installing or supporting a network system, including the hardware and software requirements.

  • Plans and/or installs network components, network operating systems and network software/applications.
  • Troubleshoots, reports and repairs problems with network servers, resources and services.
  • Sets up, maintains and upgrades network resources/services.
  • Monitors and optimizes network performance.
  • Monitors and optimizes QOS for voice performance.
  • Remotely accesses, manages and troubleshoots network/voice devices.
  • Performs network/voice analysis to identify performance bottlenecks, bad equipment and/or configuration problems.
  • Resolves escalated problems and identifies and recommends responses to new or unusual situations.
  • Documents procedures, including drawings to illustrate hardware, software and network configuration.
  • Maintains documentation of the existing network and voice system inventory.
  • Assists with planning for the re-engineering of existing systems, replacing inadequate systems, and expanding existing systems.
  • Plans and develops procedures for operating under both normal and emergency conditions.
  • Assists in disaster recovery testing.
  • Participates in ongoing training to continuously upgrade technical knowledge and skills.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science or related discipline and two (2) yrs of professional experience in a network administration role in a large corporate environment.-OR-Six (6) year combination of education, training and experience in installing, supporting, and maintaining network systems in a large corporate environment.
