- Specializes in all facets of physical therapy treatment for patients of all ages.
- Possesses and maintains an understanding of the principles of growth and development.
- Conducts a progressive physical therapy treatment program following the assessment of the patient's status and a treatment plan established by the supervising physical therapist.
- Reviews each patient's status and treatment program with the supervising physical therapist on a frequent, consistent basis.
- Documents patient treatment in the medical record according to the established policy.
- Completes and submits daily charge vouchers for assigned patients.
- Maintains accurate productivity records and produces appropriate amount of treatment units.
- Orders equipment needed by the patient in consultation with the supervising physical therapist.
- Assists the physical therapist in the clinical education of physical therapy assistant students.
- Participates in patient related therapeutic recreation programs in order to transfer patient skills acquired in therapy to functional use.
- Administers physical therapy treatment using, but not limited to the following procedures:
- Manually and mechanically applied passive, active, isokinetic and conditioning exercises
- Electrical stimulation
- Patient education
- Ultrasound etc.
- Participates in learning experiences to maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
- Performs additional advanced job duties, as outlined in the Rehab Clinical Ladder, which must be pre-approved and determined by the Rehab Committee.
- High school diploma is required.
- Bachelor's degree or completion of required internship is strongly preferred.
- Valid Florida license as a Physical Therapy Assistant is required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
