This role involves conducting regular visits to ensure that both students and clinical sites are achieving technical proficiency and adhering to established program policies. The coordinator must uphold compliance with the standards set forth by the Joint Review Commission on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, as well as the current guidelines for accredited education programs in this field and the regulations established by the LSU-E Division of Health Sciences and Business Technology. Additionally, the clinical coordinator must ensure that all documentation is accurately maintained, whether in paper format or through an electronic record-keeping system selected by the Program Director of the DMS program at LSU-E.Job Responsibilities30% Provide didactic and clinical/laboratory instruction. Develop, implement, and conduct assessments for clinical/laboratory skills and assigned didactic coursework15% Assist the Program Director in developing and evaluating clinical education sites. Maintain and manage the inventory of program equipment and supplies within the DMS scan lab. Develop and maintain communication lines among communities of interest.15% Ensure proper immunization documentation, background screening, and necessary university/program documentation for each student. Transfer relevant documentation to each clinical affiliate upon request. Organize initial orientation for incoming students as required by each clinical affiliate.15% Supervise clinical instruction provided by clinical preceptors for DMS students during ongoing physical visits, as well as through phone and email interactions. Keep records of visits, phone calls, and email correspondence as required by JRC-DMS.10% Academic advising of students.10% Participate in program, divisional, and university committees and meetings.5% Other assigned duties.Minimum QualificationsAssociates Degree from accredited college or universityMinimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in theprofessional sonography field.Specific ExperiencePossess the appropriate credentials specific the concentrations offered (AB and OB/GYN)
Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree from accredited college or university5 years full-time professional experience as a registered sonographer in the concentrations of AB, OB/GYN, Vascular and/or cardiac.Specific ExperienceCredentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, OB/GYN, AB, with Vascular Technologist, and/or Cardiac Sonography.
