FLSA Status: ExemptJob Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiberglass Engineer/Manager to oversee the design, fabrication, and quality control of fiberglass components used in cooling towers and pipe systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) manufacturing, hands-on engineering experience, and a track record of managing teams in a manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering & Design
- Design and develop fiberglass components for cooling towers and FRP piping systems.
- Create and revise engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Recommend materials and processes for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Production Oversight
- Supervise fiberglass production operations including lamination, molding, curing, and finishing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Ensure all processes meet internal specifications and industry standards.
- Quality Assurance
- Implement and enforce quality control protocols for fiberglass components.
- Review test results and failure analysis, and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain compliance with ASME, ASTM, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
- Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of fiberglass technicians, engineers, and production staff.
- Schedule and prioritize work to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Lead training programs to ensure safety, skill development, and operational consistency.
- Project Management
- Coordinate with clients, sales, and project managers to develop technical proposals and resolve design issues.
- Assist with budgeting, estimating material usage, and setting project timelines.
- Track and report progress on custom and standard product builds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (required);
- Strong knowledge of fiberglass layup techniques, resin systems, and structural design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and manufacturing ERP systems.
- Experience working in cooling tower, HVAC, or industrial pipe fabrication is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve processes, and ensure quality and safety standards.
- Combination of office, manufacturing floor, and occasionally on-site installation support.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around chemicals used in fiberglass production.
- May require occasional travel to customer sites or project locations.
