For more information, please visit .Location/Division Specific InformationThe Chemical Analysis business provides a broad mix of analytical instruments and services to a diverse range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, and Minerals and Mining. Its instruments are deployed globally in the field and on the line, in dynamic environments where customers put a premium on quality, reliability and ease of use. Our business operates within a global footprint with more than 2,000 colleagues, delivering product solutions to customers that allow for confident, on-the-spot decision making.Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Component assembly with UV cured epoxy and aligned via feedback from Optical spectrum analyzers, power meters and CCD cameras
  • Responsible for processing work orders for the manufacture of optical components
  • Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the job function
  • Adhere to ISO9000 requirements including ESD, work area cleanliness, maintenance and calibration of equipment and work instruction adherence
  • Train new technicians
  • Participate in daily team stand-up meetings; communicating daily challenges and/or ideas
  • Participate and lead improvement events (such as Kaizen, 5S, Practical Process Improvement)
  • Maintain a safe working environment, following established 5S procedures
  • Flexibility to cross train in other areas of the process
  • Troubleshoot failure modes as part of their own processes
  • Flexibility to interact with materials counterpart for parts required for own station and others as required
  • Able to implement continuous improvement using 5S, PPI, lean manufacturing, Gemba and other tools used by Thermo Scientific
  • Able to do preventive maintenance on instrumentation used across the whole line
Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • The ideal candidate will have +3 years of relevant experience
  • Detailed oriented
  • Computer knowledge, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and ERP exposure a must
  • Show ability to work with small parts under microscope using tweezers and other small tools
  • Ability to use different equipment such as, optical spectrum analyzer, optical power meter, etc.
  • Soldering experience a plus
