Security Services (Security Assistant I, Escort)

- Provide escorting duties (100% accompaniment for all visiting personnel, service contractors and other non-resident, un-cleared personnel) into facilities or other designated classified/secure areas.
- Perform various visual (observation) and physical test checks (hands on closure and proper locking of doors/windows/roll-up vehicle doors and other similar egress points) to ensure facilities remain entrance controlled.
- Maintain visibility and location awareness at ALL times of assigned visitor while in access-controlled areas.
- Ensure ALL assigned visitors are following security and safety protocol regarding accompaniment, technology restrictions, vehicle use and facility access.
- Employee will be required to walk or stand for periods longer than 20 minutes without stopping. This may include periods with intermittent breaks/stops that may occur at irregular intervals.
- Employee will be required to walk terrain that includes environmentally controlled indoor areas as well as exposed/open outdoor conditions, stairs (not greater than three floors), and slightly irregular and sloped areas (indoor and outdoor).
- Employee will be required to maintain a safe and clean working environment and comply with all applicable security and safety regulations.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a clear and professional manner with multiple levels of varying personnel (government, contractor, other industry)
- Ability to communicate with visitors who have varying levels of disability.
- Bending/lifting requirement May be required to lift 10 to 20 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to stand or sit for periods longer than one hour.
- May be required to ride in visitor vehicles (commercial and/or standard) when such vehicles operate within boundary of secured areas.
- Must apply and be able to follow AF Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO21), security, and health principles, practices and procedures and apply internal management procedures to assignments in all areas.
- Proficient in computer technology related to an office environment such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Must have the ability to perform data entry into general computer/web-based systems as needed to perform job duties.
- Experience in facility security and safeguarding, preferably on a government installation.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent Required
- Technical School Certification/Degree preferred, not required, in similar related field of study.
- Two years related experience in similar field or customer service experience, demonstrating ability to work with public and/or visitors.
- Previous or current military experience or government services experience preferred.
- The work environment characteristics are representative of those performing essential functions of the job in an industrial production and repair environment. Must be able to work in variable temperatures outdoors without or without cover and in buildings with or without heating/air conditioning. Work may require climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, and standing for prolonged periods of time on concrete, metal, and/or irregular surfaces.
- In performance of assigned job duties, there exists the possibility of electrical shock, burns from electrical energy, exposure to chemicals, exposure to industrial and/or hazardous waste and/or materials and possible minor cuts, scrapes, and bruising.
- Standard work week applies but may be required to work overtime or weekends as needed.
