- Provides safe, effective, and comprehensive primary health and well-child care in a pediatric setting within established guidelines of care, under the direction of the physician.
- Works under the direction of the Lead Physician and consults physician for collaborative management of more serious findings in children, or adolescent patients.
- Responsible for patient triage and communicating assessment with parent or guardian when applicable.
- Performs comprehensive initial and ongoing assessment upon each patient encounter, providing safe, effective and comprehensive health care.
- Must meet productivity standards for seeing adequate number of patients.
- Must code visits correctly for payment to clinic.
- Assists in the development of policy as relates to the care of the client in the clinic setting.
- Ability to communicate and interpret age specific responses and treatments.
- Performs duties as required or assigned for specific operational purposes for which they are qualified to perform.
- Ability to involve family in decision making on plan of care and explain treatment plan to parents or guardians when necessary.
- Ability to assess, interpret and provide age specific care.
- Reviews history, physical, laboratory and psychosocial findings to determine current risk status at each patient visit. Documents pertinent subjective and objective findings of health condition and formulates management plan and communicates plan to patient and/or guardian or parent.
- Assesses significant behavior in relation to the child's illness through understanding of children's growth and development patterns.
- Communicates with child or interprets nonverbal communication in patients too young to talk or too intimidated by the situation.
- Reassures, supports, and attempts to relieve anxiety of children by explaining the procedures being performed when applicable.
- Reassures and supports the parents, and explains needed procedures or treatment plan to avoid having fearful parents transfer anxiety to their children.
- Master's degree or equivalent in pediatric nursing required;
- prefer at least one year experience as an RN in Acute or Ambulatory Health Care Setting.
- Must have current RN license for Texas, and current Family Medicine NP license/certification in Texas;
- Current BCLS Healthcare Card, and prescribing authority/DEA licensure in good standing.
- Responsible for all renewals and required CEU's for licensure and certifications.
Working knowledge of clinical equipment i.e. scales, thermometers, dynamap, nebulizers, glucose meters, pressure monitors, basic bedside ultrasound imaging and any other point of care testing equipment.Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software; Microsoft Word Processing software; Internet Explorer Internet software and Electronic Medical Record experience.
