This dynamic, impactful role will touch on nearly every function, business, and region, driving internal projects as well as customer-facing programs. .Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy Development
  • Develop comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate sustainability principles into core business functions and long-term planning.
  • Implementation and Execution
  • Coordinate the preparation of the Corporate Sustainability Report, including related disclosures in our Annual Report and Proxy.
  • Lead the implementation of sustainability initiatives across the organization, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint reduction, as well as processes for collecting and synthesizing data relating to our environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability considerations into supply chain management and operational processes.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to support sustainability goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders, including your Bio-Techne colleagues in leadership, customers, and suppliers, and community partners, to foster a culture of sustainability and drive collective action.
  • Engage with industry organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to stay informed about emerging sustainability trends and best practices.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure progress towards sustainability targets.
  • Monitor and analyze data related to energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and other relevant sustainability metrics.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate sustainability performance to senior leadership, customers, investors, the internal Bio-Techne community, and regulators.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to sustainability, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, integrating sustainability considerations into risk management processes.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of sustainability professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Mentor and develop staff, providing training and professional development opportunities to enhance sustainability expertise and capabilities.
  • Undertake and support other sustainability initiatives as identified or directed.
QualificationsRequired Experience and Proficiencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in sustainability management, environmental consulting, or related field, with a track record of successfully implementing sustainability initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, SDGs), and emerging sustainability trends.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, coaching and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conversant with financial and accounting concepts relevant to the tracking and reporting of sustainability data.
  • Knowledgeable about the legal requirements such as CSRD, applicable SEC regulations governing mandatory disclosure of ESG risks and data, CA SB 253 and SB 261, and related applicable legislation and regulations globally.
  • Professional certifications such as LEED AP, CSR-P, or similar credentials are desirable.
