We’d love to have you join our client’s amazing team!What you will be doing:Building amazing software that make us the leader in our spaceOne of two technical leaders of a dedicated engineering team handling core software services and related deployment codeGuide and mentor other engineers on architectural design, appropriate data model, and reasonable deployment, supporting other teams as features are developed that use your servicesBe the visionary for a disciplined team of hardcore software engineers and talented product managers using the latest toolingWhat you must have:Experience working in an agile development environment, building high performance REST and GraphQL services on AWSStrong hands-on coding experience in Laravel and Python/DjangoMust live within 3 hours of Eastern Standard Time (EST); strong preference for candidates within 7 hours driving time to Louisville, KY (Nashville, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Columbus, Chicago, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Pittsburg, Cleveland) for occasional meetups10+ years of professional experience developing enterprise level, large-scale web services5+ years of experience working in Laravel, Django and/or Javascript at SaaS software companies, where your code is used by external customers (not internal users)Experience with authentication (oAuth2, LDAP) and writing your own token service, as well as secrets encryption using sealed secrets, Hashicorp Vault, or AWS secrets managerCurrent job title is principal engineer or higherDeep experience writing and tuning queries for relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQLSignificant experience with docker and docker-compose, including multistage docker buildsProduction GraphQL experience, ideally using versioningExperience with AWS networking including ALB/ELB, VPC, and the two dozen other objects on the VPC page, deployed using technologies such as TerraformDeep git fu, including knowledge of advanced git technique (rebase, amend a commit)A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or comparable industry experience within a software organization, or higherExperience working across the org with product managers and eng teams; good sense of the give and take in driving an architectural vision across multiple releasesCurious, dedicated to learning, low egoNice to have:Experience with Laravel and/or Django at large scaleExperience with Node.jsLeadership experience, as a team lead, manager or director; or, on the technical track, as an architectFamiliar with thread concurrency and related async, queues, sockets, deep HTTPComfortable using dozens of third-party commodity SaaS services for the basics, and can name those toolsExperience with supervised machine learning algorithms such as random forest or linear regressionCompanies you have worked at are in Crunchbase and are listed as SaaS or software companies (not banks, not consulting shops)Current job title is architectThank you for your interest in this opportunity.
