- Plan, develop, coordinate and manage engineering projects. Perform cost studies on proposed equipment procurement, facility additions or modifications and other major mechanical/electrical capital expenditures.
- Direct and coordinate major machine, equipment, facility construction, modification, move and repair projects.
- Perform required engineering calculations in the establishment of theoretical designs; confer and consult with specialists, vendors or others on electronics, controls and other technical matters.
- Prepare specifications, obtain drawings and competitive quotations as required.
- Initiate all required research, design, drafting, testing and other functions pertinent to the finalization of designs and specifications.
- Prepare all required instructions and procedures, assist in any technical problems; direct all necessary drawings prepared internally and review and approve all drawings and specifications prepared outside the company.
- Serve as a Project Engineer for the plant in the application theories, concepts, principles, and processes for the manufacture of coatings.
- Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting the operation of the plant so as to recommend changes in emphasis or new programs warranted by such developments.
- Maintain required contacts to stay informed of developments in manufacturing and processing equipment and requirements; machine design, facility and services and other items of potential value to, or application in, company product lines. Interface with all other plant locations to share best practices.
- Maintain or direct the maintenance of all required records, files and logs covering all programs or projects. Prepare periodic or special progress, status, cost, and other reports, analyses and recommendations.
- Coordinate all aspects of the plant Quality system.
- Capital budget preparation.
- Attend and participate in Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioural Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, OSHA PSM, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs.
- Experience with personal computers and distributed control systems including excellent PC, Excel and Word software skills.
- Experience with batch and continuous processes and process control Experience with statistical process control techniques.
- Experience with chemical unit operations in a 'plant environment'.
- Experience with concept of OSHA/safety programs Strong communication skills - both verbal & written.
- Effective interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills including document management, tracking , results follow-up
- Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to safety and economically solve production problems in a timely manner Strong problem solving skills.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and the maintenance process.
