
Phlebotomist II

- Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate areas as needed.
- Update and maintain patient information accurately.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
- Comprehend and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Ensure correct test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy or related field.
- Skills in blood draw, venipuncture, and patient care.
- Experience with specimen collection and butterfly needle technique.
- Strong customer service and data entry skills.
