OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY: The Polysomnographic Technologist III works collectively with the Medical Director, Leadership, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder testing and scoring.Performs comprehensive sleep testing / analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Manager, Medical Director, or designee and provides supervision of a Polysomnographic Trainee, Polysomnographic Technologist I, and Polysomnographic Technologist II.A Polysomnographic Technologist III is credentialed in sleep technology and holds a second credential in sleep or an allied healthcare field.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Licensure/Certifications:Must obtain one of the following: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist – (RPSGT), Registered in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - Sleep Disorders Specialty – (SDS) Registered Sleep Technologist – RST registered by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) Second credential may include one of the following: BRPT Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) NBRC (Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Registered Encephalography Technologist) (R. EEG T) through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists ABRETCPR – American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education:An associate’s degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neuro-diagnostics).Other skills/knowledge:Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s) or by their department.This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures.Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patient to alleviate their apprehensions and gain their cooperation.OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
