Job DetailsJob Location: Various - Wilmette, ILPosition Type: Part Time Short TermEducation Level: Not SpecifiedSalary Range: $16.00 - $18.00 HourlyJob Shift: VariousJob Category: RecreationDescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The Youth Soccer Referee is responsible for officiating youth soccer games for ages 4-14. A thorough knowledge of soccer and its applicable rules is required to ensure games run smoothly and players exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. Referees are paid on a per-game basis.SUPERVISORY DUTIES:NoneESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Create a safe, engaging environment throughout the framework of soccer gamesThorough knowledge of age-specific soccer rules for Grades K-8 (age 6-14)Positively interact with youth, coaches, parents/guardians, and team membersReferee games within specific age group soccer rulesProvide positive feedback to participants and coaches during and after gamesCommunicate with other Park District staff, supervisors, and team leaders as neededPerform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needsActively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goalsPerform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needsSAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidentsObey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the departmentBecome familiar with and follow the safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation proceduresPromptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor, Human Resources/Risk Management divisionAttend and participate in required safety trainingQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. S Soccer Federation certification preferredMust possess CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park DistrictComplete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training annually and Mandated Reporter training every three yearsWORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The general work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The outdoor work area depends on the season.HOURS:
  • Saturdays - September 6 through the first weekend of November
  • General shift options: 4-hour shift or full-day shift
  • Typical program hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • General hours of duty will be approved by the Recreation Supervisor – Sports and the Recreation General Manager
