- Supervise, mentor, and coach geologists. Ensure development plans are established and maintained for all direct reports.
- Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments including Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety and Finance).
- Own & execute infill, growth and exploration drill programs to grow our Mineral Resource base and resource conversion targets in line with business objectives.
- Build ore body knowledge into 3D geologic models by integrating critical observations into section interpretations with a focus on geologically representatve estimation & geometallurgical domains.
- Own training & development plans of team members with an emphasis on executing drill plans with dynamic geologic control, appropriately scaled core logging, sampling, & geologic interpretations. Drive best practices ensuring their compliance across the team.
- Monitor QA/QC practices and procedures ensuring compliance to company sampling protocols and standards.Identify opportunities for improvements. Supervise training of staff members and review SOP's.
- Engage with the resource team to ensure accurate, fit for purpose mineral resource estimations are delivered, ensuring that all available data & ore body knowledge is leveraged to maximize value in every model.
- Supervise and authorize the design, preparation and implementation of proposals, cost estimates and expenditure requests for all drilling programs.
- Assist in creation of the MRM budget and ownership of tracking spend and variance explanations.
- Support and drive integration of orebody knowledge into all parts of the business.
- Provide input into the annual business plans, including their review for risk and seek strategic opportunities where possible.
- Monitor departmental KPI's to ensure agreed work programs, drilling, cost, and ounce delivery targets are met.
- Identify areas for improvement and present solutions through active change management
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field required
- Minimum five (5) years' experience with underground mine geology or exploration, preferred
- Experience with leading technical teams with strong interdepartmental communication skills preferred
- Experience building ore body knowledge & geologic domains preferred
- Familiarity with Leapfrog, Deswik, Vulcan, and Acquire software preferred
- Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing required
- Team leader with the ability to work collaboratively within a coordinated and agile multidisciplinary team, regardless of reporting structure required
- Ability to work with minimum supervision required
- Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
