Summary:Performs inspection of parts, assemblies, products and/or materials for quality, defects, appearance, finishes, variance, and operation from specification or by visual comparison methods. Applies basic and some advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to inspection work. Assembles components of work-holding assemblies where required. Identifies and resolves issues regarding fit and function of assemblies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following is an outline of the principle duties required of the position.   • Cleans parts prior to inspection to ensure that there are no false readings.
  • Uses fixed or variable measuring instruments to inspect parts, products and/or processes, to ensure conformance with standards. Instruments include, but are not limited to gage blocks, height gages, dial indicators and bore gages
  • Checks for irregularities and defects.
  • Fill out inspection sheets and ready approved parts for assembly.
  • Relays data found to the Quality Engineer, who then make any necessary decisions.
  • Does all precision hand lapping for gages and parts.
  • Assembles parts when required and does inspection of completed assemblies.
  • Checks assemblies for fit and function where applicable.
  • Participates in process improvement activities and Lean events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education and/or Experience:Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
