REPORTS TO: Federal Programs Director/PrincipalJOB SUMMARY: The Family Engagement Liaison serves as a vital liaison between the school, families, and the broader community. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to improve family involvement and partnerships in support of student achievement. The coordinator ensures compliance with federal and state family engagement requirements, especially under Title I, and promotes equity and access for all families. and community living.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of family engagement strategies and community resource networks in Alabama.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school and community stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic data management.
  • Bilingual (especially (especially Spanish or a common local language) preferred but not required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Develop and implement a comprehensive family engagement plan aligned with Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) guidelines and Title I requirements.
  • Organize family engagement events, workshops, and trainings focused on supporting student academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and community partners to strengthen communication and outreach to families.
  • Build trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds, including those who are underserved, ELL, or experiencing poverty or homelessness.
  • Maintain and disseminate culturally relevant resources and tools to empower parents/guardians as educational partners.
  • Coordinate and conduct needs assessments and surveys to guide program planning and evaluation.
  • Assist schools in developing and updating School-Parent Compacts and Parent and Family Engagement Policies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Title I family engagement requirements (e.g., documentation, use of funds, annual parent meetings).
  • Serve as a liaison between the school system and community-based organizations and agencies.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports related to parent participation and program effectiveness.
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with family engagement best practices and state requirements.
  • Serve as a Liaison with Students and families that are in alternative and/or Virtual Settings.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is typically performed in a school office or community setting.
  • Possible evening and weekend hours for family events or meetings.
  • Travel between school sites and community locations may be required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten months/202 days.
