Come join our expanding MFM team! Occasional weekends however no organizationally recognized holidays required.Job Summary:This job is responsible for performing obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound examinations at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. An incumbent assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of ultrasound equipment.Essential Job Duties:
- Executes all varieties of obstetrical and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound exams presently offered by the department; performs all examinations in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols; determines correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution; and participates (along with supervising Obstetrician/Gynecologist) in the final exam diagnosis.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, interpreting physicians (Obstetrician/Gynecologist) and referring providers; explains testing procedures to patient; ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician.
- Utilizes appropriate educational resources to maintain currency in diagnostic sonography, and assists in various educational services relating to both staff and patients; attends local and national professional meetings to stay abreast of new procedures, equipment or information; participates in the formal training of ultrasound interns; evaluates new ultrasound products and equipment.
- Performs incidental office duties as necessary to maintain the completeness of the patient record; ensures that patient data is entered correctly and that patients are billed appropriately.
- Assists with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required.
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited training program in Cardiac and/or General diagnostic radiology (Certificate in sonography).
- Recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound or equivalent recent directly-related work experience.
- Current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Current certification by the American Association of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
- Current Health Care Provider BLS certification.
