This position is responsible for providing project level support with minimal guidance from the department manager to ensure compliance with contract and project management procedures in an efficient and professional manner consistent with Company Policies and Procedures. Project Controls Analysts are responsible for the effective management of their assigned projects and regularly interact with members of senior management regarding project forecasting, analysis, and financial results.Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and maintain projects in company financial and project management systems
  • Utilize company analysis to deduce and take appropriate action to maintain or improve project performance and requirements
  • Manage project billing and collection
  • Interact with internal and external project team members in the context of gaining/updating information
  • Coordinate project schedules and deliverables with the project team to ensure compliance with standards and policies set forth by the company
  • Support project team with resolving subcontractor and supplier issues to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Communicate critical issues with project team and senior management to ensure systematic resolution of issues
  • Maintain strong working relationships with project team (Estimators, Superintendents, Foremen, Clients, etc.) and others involved in the contract and project management process to ensure schedules and deliverables are communicated appropriately.
  • Frequently communicate with project teams to update and manage project level progress reports and budgets
  • Validate the accuracy of reporting variances to collaborate with management and project teams to develop corrective action plans, when required
  • Responsible for accessing and documenting the effectiveness of corrective action plans and communicating results to management and project teams in a timely manner
  • Manage project data to proactively identify and prioritize contract and project management issues and deliverables
  • Resolve all open items, ensure compliance requirements are met, and facilitate project closeout process
  • Process receipt accruals, recommend/document project journal entries, and evaluate/recommend additional accruals to meet SOX and compliance requirements
  • Manage project level action items and deliverables from project team
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for project related data and analysis
  • Participate in various process improvement initiatives and efforts
  • Update and maintain project schedules in P6 or MS Project per project or client requirements
  • Assist internal teams (departments) in monitoring and tracking material, equipment and supply orders to ensure compliance with project schedule requirements
  • Lead, attend, and/or document various project related meetings and conference calls
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Prepare various cost reports and maintain forecast accuracy. Prepare project performance analysis, cost, and schedule status reports. Identify cost and schedule variances from objectives and recommend corrective action
  • Manage the renewal of USA (Underground Service Alert) tickets for assigned projects.
  • Evaluate and track inflight project performance versus forecast EAC (Estimate at Completion).
  • Proactively identify and communicate variances to management, while recommending corrective actions.
  • Submit, document, and/or pursue project change requests and change orders

Summary of Experience & Education
Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Four years’ documented experience in heavy construction business operations, accounting, finance, construction management, or project management
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of GAAP construction accounting, project budgeting, and project forecasting
  • Must have an “ownership” mentality of assigned projects
Desired:
  • Two or four-year degree in Business, Construction or related field
  • Two years’ documented experience in electric transmission or distribution business operations, accounting, finance, construction management, or project management
  • OJT organization-specific or field-related work experience certification such as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Certified Project Control Professional (CPCP), Project
  • Management Professional (PMP) Certification, etc.
  • Experience with ViewPoint Vista, Primavera (P6), and/or Oracle Unifier
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook); specifically, MS Excel
  • Proficiency in the conceptual understanding and utilization of relational databases (MS Access, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze numerical data
  • Ability to work in a high-production environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Critical Thinking Skills
