OverviewShulman Rogers is a full-service, 100+ attorney law firm with its principal office located in Potomac, Maryland and with branch offices in Tysons Corner and Alexandria, Virginia. The firm supports regional and local clients and works collaboratively, across practice groups, to respond to all of their legal needs.Shulman Rogers' seeks a Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Commercial Litigation Department in the Firm's Potomac office.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys specializing in litigation matters.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and correspondence.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
  • Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in litigation proceedings.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including assembling exhibits, organizing evidence, and coordinating witness schedules.
  • Schedule depositions, meetings, and court appearances.
  • Handle electronic filing (e-filing) and service of court documents in both state (DC, MD and VA) and federal courts
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and other appointments.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, and reminders.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Creating and maintaining pleadings
  • Provide support to other members of the legal team as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant litigation experience. Strong knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to litigation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management software, and able to effectively use other litigation software.
  • Proven legal research skills; proficiency with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis or Westlaw is preferred.
