- Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day electrical engineering activity on small to medium sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal to moderate complexity within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly
- Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of electrical discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
- Reviews and makes recommendations of the electrical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
- When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of electrical engineering aspects of the work
- Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
- Ensures that assigned electrical engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
- Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Design Guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
- Demonstrated skill in leadership.
- Knowledge of application and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools on a project.
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university, OR
- A professional license in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline, from a recognized licensing board, OR
- Specialized courses in relevant general engineering or science or an appropriate engineering discipline, AND
- Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
- Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineering supervisors, engineers, specialists, scientists, designers and drafters.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
- Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
- Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent in the discipline.
- Good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices and supervisory experience.
