- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
- A valid special education teaching license from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is required or ability to obtain a license within 2 years. (Must obtain a License with Stipulations from DPI while working towards permanent license.)
- Minimum of two years of work experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism- Spectrum Disorder and attachment challenges is preferred.
- Must possess intermediate computer skills to learn and operate software programs.
- Ability to lead, take charge, problem solve, and give direction.
- Demonstrate respect, learning, safety, compassion, and collaboration when interacting with students and interdisciplinary teams.
- Carry out the essential functions of the classroom to include; setting up daily group and individual student schedules, develop and implement lesson plans, seatwork, activities and other programming as appropriate.
- Ensure that accurate, reliable data is taken and recorded in regards to IEP goals and objectives, grading data, behavior data, communication logs and updates, treatment goals and therapy goals data, incident reports, emergency intervention forms, and seizure activity logs before the end of the shift.
- Work collaboratively with the behavior department to provide individualized behavioral treatment that is implemented with fidelity within the classroom.
- Provide positive and corrective feedback (as needed) to TA's and Direct Support Professionals in the classroom on a daily basis.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in treatment and ensure utilization of evidence-based approaches.
