Job Description:Teacher Assistant - Truman Middle School
  • Full-time position, approximately 7 hours/day, 35 hours/week
  • Schedule Monday-Friday, to follow Student Calendar
  • Hourly rate: $22.81
  • Non-exempt
  • Benefits included
  • Substitute Certificate required, but Missouri Teacher Certification preferred
Summary: Assist teachers with daily non-instructional and instructional activities and student management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assists teacher in routing classroom operation i.e. tutoring etc.
  • Prepares planned instructional materials, attendance reports and class reports.
  • Supervises student involved in non-classroom activities; recess, lunch etc.
  • Implements/follows teachers instructions of classroom procedures; reinforcement, philosophy and consistency.
  • Makes appropriate referrals when difficulties arise and teacher is not readily available.
  • Assists with clerical duties; inventory, bulletin boards, collecting money etc.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of students' problems & keeps a firm course yet is courteous.
  • Keeps records, writes lessons on the board, and corrects student's work.
  • Assists in health room, computer lab, libraries, offices, etc. if appropriately trained and skilled.
  • Performs extra duties as assigned by the administration.
