
Manager, Quality Systems

- Hybrid – onsite a minimum of 9 days a month, primarily during core weeks as determined by the Company; maybe more as business need requires
- Flexibility to work outside of core hours, flow to work, and travel to support plant issues as needed
- Travel – up to 15% annually
- Responsible for the oversight and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) including existing databases prior to QMS software implementation: ATS (approved temporary spec), CAPA (corrective action preventive action), Hold, and Quality Docs and Hold databases
- Write, update, and review quality documents, procedures, policies and business processes ensuring on-going compliance with current regulations, standards and applicable certifications i.e. FSMA, BRCGS, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), etc.
- Manage and develop direct report responsible for sales support of customer complaints, requests and shelf-life extensions
- Owner or administrator of:
- ETQ - Document Control Reviewer function for all JMS and QA Global documents QA Portal SharePoint site
- Site Bioterrorism Registrations
- Corporate QAKE (Quality Assurance Key Element) Owner: Regulatory
- Corporate Quality Scorecard
- Assist in managing quality software system platforms, including performing administrative tasks to ensure system functionality, maintenance, and effective troubleshooting
- Back-up lead for the corporate crisis team and member of corporate food defense team
- Provide support and participation to the Corporate QA audit team in Smucker facilities
- Coordinate PCQI course offerings with assistance of Smucker PCQI lead instructors
- Member of Corporate Quality Pillar team with support of monthly QA Pillar/QA Manager call
- A bachelor's degree
- 5 years of progressive quality and food safety experience
- 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience leading others (the can include through project teams, as a people manager, etc.)
- Demonstrated high level of organizational skills and ability
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance, food manufacturing, packaging, processing and distribution; USDA HACCP, FDA FSMA, ready-to-eat (RTE)/not-ready-to-eat (nRTE) regulations; GFSI (BRCGS)
- Proven ability to develop written tools, Policies, SOP's
- Demonstrated ability with continuous improvement
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related scientific degree
- Technical knowledge of FDA regulations (cGMPs, FSMA, Allergens), quality assurance, food manufacturing, and GFSI and particularly, BRCGS certifications
- Strong quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to constructively challenge ideas and assumptions
