The Mental Health Support Specialist is a dynamic role ideal for someone with a background in psychology, medical assisting, or coaching.In this full-time position, you’ll see approximately one patient per hour providing a blend of clinical and psychoeducational support. You will also assist with medication-related administrative tasks, coordinate care, and help patients navigate their mental health journey.What You’ll DoDirect Patient Care
- Conduct appointments while staying within allotted timeframes and providing excellent patient care.
- Obtain and record patient vitals, including height, weight, blood pressure (manual and electronic), heart rate, and temperature.
- Administer injections as needed.
- Interview patients to confirm the purpose of the visit, document how they are feeling, and note any improvement or worsening of symptoms since the last visit.
- Update psychiatric and medical histories, psychiatric symptoms, and confirm diagnoses in the EHR.
- Document for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) during evaluations.
- Support mental health and personal goal setting using the Mentally STRONG Method (training provided).
- Submit and track medication refills, prior authorizations, and faxes.
- Communicate patient needs with pharmacies.
- Send referrals for outside resources or procedures.
- Send and review cognitive assessments; upload completed results to the patient record.
- Review and upload completed results to the patient document manager.
- Maintain up-to-date patient documentation and follow through on provider requests.
- Keep up to date with incoming faxes, e-results, and electronic prescription requests.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Basic computer skills; ability to learn and navigate an EHR system.

- Knowledge of medical and behavioral health terminology.
- Ability to work effectively and positively under pressure.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- OR experience as an MA, CNA, LPN, RBT, coach, educator, or in a similar role.
- Experience with patient vitals, injections, and medication processes.
- Comfort working in a busy outpatient setting with multiple priorities.
- Paid training in clinical procedures and the Mentally STRONG Method.
- Hands-on experience in a fast-paced psychiatric outpatient setting.
