  • Students who are passionate about external affairs and internal communications with an interest in the CPG and Vet Health industries.
  • Curious collaborator energized by building relationships with Associates across our business and comfortable working autonomously on key projects.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills.
  • Team player with a solutions-oriented mindset and a can-do attitude who is interested in building business acumen.
  • Desired majors/concentrations: Business, communications, public relations, journalism, government/political science, international affairs, economics, etc.
  • Eligible candidates will intern the summer prior to their final graduation date
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of drug & background screening.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Corporate Affairs (CA) Hub Summer Intern will be based in Mars’ global corporate headquarters and will provide support across the Global Public Affairs, External Communications, and Internal Communications teams.
  • Together, these teams are responsible for building Mars’ reputation internally with our Associates as well as with a range of external stakeholders. The Intern will be expected to contribute to a range of CA projects through research and analysis, writing and developing presentations, meeting and event organization, and other tasks.
  • Projects and responsibilities will be centrally coordinated, ensuring the Intern gets broad exposure across the Mars CA Hub team, with opportunities to work closely with and shadow a range of CA Associates.
  • Researching and analyzing defined policy topics to understand the potential impact to Mars and to inform development of Mars positioning.
  • Developing high-quality communications materials for a variety of internal audiences through writing, editing, and posting to various internal communication platforms.
  • Partnering with CA Associates to draft position papers, press releases and news articles for Mars.com, presentation decks, training materials, and other documents as needed.
  • Mapping and researching stakeholders to support Mars’ outreach, engagement, and advocacy plans.
  • Evaluating current internal/external communication platforms, benchmarking against best-in-class external examples, and developing recommendations for how to evolve Mars’ communications platforms to reach prioritized audiences more effectively.
  • Support the planning for community engagement events as part of the Mars Volunteer Program.
  • Preparing for and joining CA Associates in external engagements with policymakers, industry associations, think tanks, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting meeting/event planning - both internal and external - including coordination of attendees, logistical details, briefing materials, and follow-up actions.
  • The Intern’s summer project portfolio will be tailored in line with the Intern’s areas of interest and business needs. The Intern will receive direction and coaching on each project from the CA Manager/Director who leads the work, with overall guidance and mentorship from a designated CA Line Manager who coordinates the Intern’s overall summer program.
