You will develop primarily on the Windows desktop platform while enabling strong cloud connectivity features and core technology modernization. You will primarily develop code in C++ and C# while also utilizing other solutions like Qt, Git, Jenkins, and Python on desktop and Azure infrastructure to deliver improved Inventor functionality and facilitate modern and efficient software development process. You will troubleshoot and remediate customer issues and system crashes to continually improve stability and performance and will be expected to help our team continually improve process, quality, and the product itself. Having an appreciation or experience with CAD systems or 3D design systems and process will greatly enhance your understanding of our product.The Team
Our focus on the Inventor product platform development team is to continue the success of the world’s leading CAD family of applications and deliver value to a new generation of customers while continuing to innovate and support our existing customers who work on massive efforts involving thousands of interacting mechanical parts for years at a time. We expect the candidate to have deep knowledge of Windows platform, be mindful of the impact to Inventor customers when developing the product and can work with cross functional and platform teams to deliver high quality products on schedule.This role is hybrid based in Portland, Oregon.ResponsibilitiesLead one or more areas of development and maintenance of the Inventor product platform utilizing C++, C#, other support languages, and test automation techniquesParticipate in the development of tool chain improvements critical to the building and delivery of complex software projects to include build pipelines, code version control, development environments, and securityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and improvements while improving the architecture and design of the existing code baseEnsure code quality and maintainability by modeling and adhering to software engineering best practicesTriage, debug and troubleshoot issues and bugs using various tools and techniquesCollaborate with other engineers, user experience designers, and product owners/managers to design and deliver the best solutions for Autodesk customersReview other engineers’ code and provide constructive feedback on correctness and for achieving higher code qualityLead code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting group sessions to ensure robust and efficient codeAssist in driving the modernization of the .NET framework and support continuous integration and test automation effortsEngage actively in developer experience (DevEx) initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency for the engineering teamIdentify and address technical debt and contribute to the strategic planning of the Inventor Engineering Team's effortsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience5+ years’ experience in software development, preferably in a product development environmentStrong programming skills in C++, C#, and other similar and supporting programming languagesExcellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused mindset with the ability to "dig into" the codeStrong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentStrong understanding of the whole software development life cycle to include agile development, automated testing, and continuous integration pipelinesPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with .NET framework modernization and UI automation testing is a plusExperience in CAD software or other 3D software systems to enhance customer empathyUnderstanding of modern software development automation techniques for provisioning, managing and maintaining software development tools and infrastructureAbility and willingness to leverage agentic AI tools responsibly and effectively into the software development process to help increase the quality and longevity of our codebaseLearn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $110,300 and $190,300. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
