Department: Food and BeverageReports to: Managing DirectorsSummary: The General Manager of 1606 Restaurant and Oyster Bar, located at Beauport Hotel Gloucester, will be responsible for hiring, staff development, and creating and maintaining relationships with guests in our restaurant and bar areas. The General Manager should possess a strong passion for the guests' dining experience while acting as the liaison between the Kitchen and Dining Room.Responsibilities:· Oversee and lead the daily operations of the Restaurant, Room Service, and all Seasonal Food and Beverage functions while directing day-to-day activities and assignments of the Restaurant Management team.· Hire, train, evaluate, and schedule staff in accordance with the standards of the company and guidelines.· Coach and develop the team while holding the team accountable for maintaining service standards.· Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings, communicating information to the team members, such as house count and menu changes.· Approve schedules for the restaurant team, ensuring proper coverage based upon volume.· Work seamlessly in tandem with the team to create memorable experiences for our guests.· Accurately execute all policies with improvement to quality, service, and operations.· Be present on the floor during peak business periods, visiting tables during the customer's visit, and fostering· Create an environment of engagement for team members while being a liaison between team members and management.· Practice and ensure cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, service areas, and storage areas.· Coach and counsel team members, monitoring and addressing employee performance and issues in a timely manner.· Ensure monthly inventory is conducted and completed according to proper guidelines and on a timely basis (including china, glassware, silverware, uniforms, liquor, wine, beer, etc.)· Control payroll and time edits, owning the time-keeping process.· Support the company's philosophy and company culture by ensuring customer and employee satisfaction.· Provide direct service to guests as needed.· Maintain effective communication with the Food & Beverage team and the Beauport Hospitality properties.· Complete other tasks or projects as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Managing Directors.Physical Demands and Work Environment:· Ability to stand/walk for approximately 90% of shift (10 or more hours).· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.· Work will primarily take place in the Restaurant, front of the house, heart of the house, to include Service and Kitchen areas, but will include the exterior of hotel, including rooftop lounge, with exposure to sun, heat, cold and changing weather conditions.· Includes group and solo work.Experience and SkillsQualifications:· Must have at least five (5) or more years of strong Restaurant Management experience, preferably in a General Manager capacity.· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with maximum efficiency, accuracy, and full attention to detail.· Requires a working knowledge of Full-Service restaurant operations.· Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.· Ability to exercise sound logic and judgement in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.· Ability to effectively lead and work cohesively as part of a team.· Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.· Must have experience in all Microsoft Office and knowledge of industry relevant Point of Sale Systems. Additional Qualifications:· Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.
