​The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Saturday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. We know that our diversity makes us stronger, and we strive to keep diversity, equity and inclusion at the center of all that we do.Airport Security is a section of the Airport Operations Division of Denver International Airport and is comprised of two (2) units: Badging & Background Services and Compliance & Enforcement.This Airport Security Guard Contract Manager position is within the Compliance and Enforcement unit, and will:
  • Serve as the Guard Contract Manager to manage the functional activities of several Security Guard Contracts with oversight of the day to day operation.
  • Communicates and collaborates daily with various city staff and management, contract security vendors and contractors, the community, Security Guard Contracts Administrator, and Assistant Director to maintain Regulatory and Contractual Compliance.
  • Supports Airport Security section and participates in the formation of operating policies and procedures, provides advice and interpretative information pertaining to policies and procedures, evaluates proposed changes to policies and procedures including the merit and overall impact of changes to the functional area, and makes recommendations.
  • Performs a variety of specific administrative activities/projects, participates in the development of long range and short-term planning initiatives for the functional area, and serves as a liaison with other departmental officials, community groups, and/or other units in all matters related to Airport Security Contract Guards.
  • Work in a collaborative team structure with other members DEN and key stakeholders.
  • Serves as a technical advisor and is a Subject Matter Expert on the Security Contracts and how they are used to maintain compliance with Title 49 of Code of Federal Regulations Part 1520 and Part 1542, as well as the Airport Security Program, and Part 20 of the Denver Municipal Airport System Rules and Regulations.
  • Conducts research and surveys, compiles and interprets data, performs analysis and establishes systems for reporting pertinent information and recommending changes to management to improve the Security Contracts performance.
  • Serves as a liaison between Security and the Contractors management to help create and implement improvements and new security procedures for various airport projects and initiatives
  • Works with Security Contracts Administrator on budget for the contract and planning for yearly budget on the Guard Contract
  • Serves as an alternate Airport Security Coordinator, providing 24/7 coverage.

  • Experience working in a airport environment that is regulated by local, state and/or federal requirements
  • Familiarity with Airport Operations and Contracts compliance and Contractor teams
  • Experience in creating/managing aviation security programs and/or projects.
  • Interacts with customers in a friendly and professional manner, works to resolve issues quickly and effectively, and is a team player
  • Shows respect for the views and contributions of other team members. Shows empathy, listens, supports, and cares for others, and reconciles conflict.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience administering programs for a commercial airport, airline, or military environment.
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post- high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License/Certification Requirement: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Successful completion of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Security training within (6) months of employment.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
