The Executive Technology Office at the University of Virginia (UVA) provides strategic technology service, support, and solutions for the Office of the President and approximately 41 other executive units across the University. Supporting around 80% Windows and 20% Macintosh environments, our team delivers high-level, tailored IT services to meet the needs of senior leaders and their administrative staff.Position Summary
The University of Virginia invites applications for an Information Technology Specialist to join the Executive Technology Office. This position plays a key role in ensuring seamless technology experiences for senior leaders and executives by delivering expert technical support, proactive solutions, and best-in-class customer service.The incumbent will be responsible for endpoint management, troubleshooting, training, and maintaining secure, efficient computing environments. This position is primarily in-person, with standard working hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role also requires participation in an emergency on-call rotation shared among the Executive Technology staff.ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for senior leaders, executives, and administrative units within the President’s Office.Deliver excellent customer service while building trusted relationships with clients.Analyze and resolve complex computer application and system issues.Communicate effectively and professionally with customers in a timely manner.Collaborate with central ITS to install and maintain network resources.Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and upgrades.Ensure compliance with policies and practices, reporting concerns to the ExecTech Director.Protect and maintain secure access to data, including for users who travel internationally.Assess current hardware and software systems, recommend upgrades, and maintain inventory.Work across multiple office locations in Charlottesville, VA.Manage workload effectively, both independently and as part of a team.Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.At least five years of experience providing technical support.Knowledge and experience with both Windows OS and macOS.Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to multiple customer sites.Preferred QualificationsSignificant experience supporting staff in a fast-paced leadership environment.Strong knowledge of Windows environments, with working familiarity of macOS.Expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Microsoft Office Suite, SCCM, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, and related products.Experience with JAMF for Macintosh management.Demonstrated passion for customer service and delivering computing solutions for executive-level users.Physical Demands
This position requires working in multiple office locations across the Charlottesville area, which may present varying working conditions. Some lifting or movement of equipment may be necessary.Salary Range
Anticipated hiring range is $70,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience.Position Type & Work Location
This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position based in Charlottesville, VA.
