- Conducting outreach in English and Spanish with diverse community members including individuals, parents, school staff, businesses, community groups, and public agencies.
- Assisting with outreach strategy development, and responsible for individual event coordination, including tabling opportunities at existing events (indoor and outdoor) and coordination of public workshops and focus groups.
- Assisting with outreach and implementation of school-based pop-up bike/pedestrian traffic safety infrastructure demonstrations.
- Developing surveys, gathering public comments and survey responses through a variety of venues.
- Drafting reports with summarized themes, findings, and data.
- Providing in-field support and guidance to program volunteers, interns and service learners.
- Working on content and messaging translation for a Spanish speaking audience.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Working with the Senior Planner to communicate with external partners, including funders (i.e cities, transit agencies, consultants), collaborators, small community-based non-profits and businesses, stakeholders, and the media.
- Creating calendar invitations and agendas for stakeholder meetings, facilitating and taking notes during meetings, and capturing and assigning tasks for the planning team and stakeholders
- Writing high-level summary narratives of monthly/quarterly work completed on projects for inclusion in invoices to funders
- Working with a variety of internal stakeholders including Marketing, Development, Accounting, IT and Volunteer Program.
- A minimum of 2 years' related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize between multiple responsibilities and meet hard deadlines. Detail oriented in regard to data and tracking systems.
- Public speaking skills; ability to lead public forums and lead discussions
- Strong public outreach skills; professional demeanor when engaging with the public, school administrators, local politicians, public agency staff, partners, and other stakeholders; comfortable initiating contact through cold calls and other outreach methods
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Experience with event organizing.
- Experience with or knowledge of urban planning, especially bicycle, pedestrian, public transit, or safe routes to schools planning.
- Experience working with school communities, including administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
- Experience working with city staff, including Public Works, Planning, and elected officials.
- Valid driver license, proof of minimum required insurance and reliable transportation
- Budget management experience
- Experience working with public works/public transportation
- Proficient in MS office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
