Other benefits include performance and spot bonuses as well as our stock ownership program which is available to all employees, internal project manager and sales training, mid-year and end of year performance reviews and goal setting.As a Field Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be part of a highly trained and experienced team that performs observations and testing during earthwork and building construction of various projects. Your projects will range from well pads, compressor stations, landslide repairs, pipeline inspections, roadway, and pavement inspection.Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Communication with Company Project Manager while on project sites;
  • Daily field report writing, reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications, and entering data related to the various job tasks;
  • Interact with construction site personnel, engineers and state and federal representatives while presenting yourself as a professional representative of the company;
  • Perform field testing of soils, concrete, aggregates, and asphalt to determine compliance with project specifications;
  • Perform field tests using specialized equipment designed to collect data from the various construction materials, i.e.; nuclear density gauge, penetrometer, and hand tools. You will be required to keep equipment clean and in good working order;
  • Driving and maintaining the appearance and operation of company vehicles to and from job sites.
QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of field experience working on commercial construction projects performing some or all of the following inspections or testing:
  • Earthwork inspections and field testing
  • Concrete sampling and field testing
  • Bearing grade inspections for foundations
  • Structural steel inspections
  • Concrete masonry unit inspections and grout testing
  • High School education;
  • Ability to interpret project plans and specifications;
  • Strong computer skills including using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat;
  • Ability to write accurate and concise field reports.
Preferred Certifications:
  • NICET, ICC and ACI Certifications;
  • WVDOH Certification for Asphalt, Concrete and Aggregates.
