The Safety Supervisor oversees and enhances safety operations at multiple project sites, providing leadership and direction to safety teams. This role requires frequent travel and direct oversight of safety protocols, inspections, and training under the guidance of the Safety Manager. The Safety Supervisor ensures that safety standards are consistently applied across all sites and plays a critical role in strategizing safety improvements and interventions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor a team of safety specialists and other safety personnel, overseeing their daily activities and ensuring high standards of safety compliance.
- Conduct comprehensive safety audits and regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards.
- Develop and implement safety policies and protocols in collaboration with the Safety Manager, enhancing the safety culture across the company.
- Lead investigations into incidents and accidents, ensuring thorough documentation, analysis, and implementation of effective corrective actions.
- Manage the issuance of necessary work permits, including for confined spaces and other high-risk operations, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
- Coordinate and lead safety meetings and training sessions, ensuring that all team members are well-informed and equipped to perform their duties safely.
- Evaluate and upgrade safety equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and compliance with the latest safety standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for federal, state, and local safety inspections and audits.
- Directly supervises safety specialists and other safety personnel at multiple project sites.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of safety staff.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Deep understanding of safety regulations and the ability to apply them practically in a construction or heavy civil environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the capability to coordinate complex safety operations.
- Ability to make decisive and effective decisions.
- Capability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
- Professional safety certification preferred (e.g., CSP, ASP, GSP, CUSP).
- At least five years of experience in safety management, with a proven track record in supervising safety operations.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other safety management software.
