This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven, proactive accounting professional to own key financial functions across complex, fast-moving construction projects.About the Opportunity
As the Lead Project Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the financial accuracy, compliance, and performance reporting of ongoing construction jobs. You’ll work closely with project managers and operational teams, managing billing, contract compliance, and change order tracking while contributing to monthly financial reporting and WIP analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesLead project billing processes, including preparation of AIA applications and progress billingsTrack labor, material costs, and job-specific financials to ensure accurate reporting and job performance analysisMaintain detailed project documentation including contracts, change orders, lien waivers, and compliance formsEnsure subcontractor compliance by monitoring insurance certificates, onboarding materials, and contract termsSupport accounts receivable efforts by following up on outstanding invoices and assisting with collectionsMonitor project financials and assist with monthly WIP reporting, providing key cost and revenue dataCollaborate with project management, field operations, and finance to ensure seamless project executionIdentify and implement process improvements for job cost tracking and financial documentationWhat You Bring3+ years of experience in project accounting or financial coordination in construction or related industriesProven expertise in AIA billing, job costing, and change order managementStrong understanding of construction contracts and compliance documentationExperience using ERP or construction accounting systems (e.g., Vista by Viewpoint, Spectrum, COINS or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong command of financial reporting toolsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
