Position Summary: The District ELD Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the needs of ELL students in their identification, assessment, and English Language proficiency instruction. The coordinator will also serves the needs of students as the Homeless, Migrant, and Child Welfare Liaison. This position also supports Native American Indigenous students programming in Title VI by providing culturally-responsive academic support and activities for those students. The coordinator also provides support in the following testing platforms; illuminate, mclass, Zearn, Lexia, TS Gold, ACCESS, CMAS, Enrich and Read Act.Position Responsibilities:Serve as a resource for administrative staff and classroom teachers by assisting in thedevelopment of ELD English lesson planning and instruction.Participate in RTI problem solving and IEP staffing when necessary and appropriate forstudents with English proficiency needs in addition to their other needs.Follow student identification, assessment, placement, monitoring, exiting and parentalnotification criteria as determined by the district ELA Plan and ESSA.Assist the District Assessment Coordinator with the annual ACCESS Proficiency examas needed or directed.Oversee and/or administer the WIDA Screener placement assessment as requiredthroughout the school year to any new-to-district student and other designated studentswhose Home Language Survey indicates a second language influence.Developed and maintain language student records including assisting with writing ofELL plans.Disseminate assessment information to classroom, secretarial, and administrative staff.Provide Home Language Surveys to schools in the languages needed for parents asavailable.Screen Home Language Surveys to assist in properly identifying students who have ormay have a second language influence.Assist the building staff and principal as designated by the building principal and theDirector of Curriculum and Instruction with regards to English Language Acquisition andprograming.Facilitate/attend meetings of the district English Language Acquisition Committee forannual review of the ELA Plan and its effectiveness as well as making proposed changesto the plan as a result of increasing its effectiveness.Be an effective organizer/planner.Participate in staff in-services and conferences.Homeless Liaison/Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • Students enroll in and have full and equal opportunity to succeed in school.
  • Students are automatically eligible for free school meals.
  • Students are identified by school personnel through outreach and coordination with other entities and agencies.
  • School personnel receive professional development and other support. Children, youth and families have access to and receive educational services for which they are eligible, including Head Start, early intervention (IDEA Part C) and other preschool programs.
  • Children, youth and families receive referrals to health care, dental, mental health, substance abuse, housing and other services.
Migrant Liaison/Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • Train secretaries and registrars in the registration of migrant families.
  • Communicate with the regional Migrant Educational Recruiter anytime families complete the Migrant survey in order to receive supplemental, education and support services to children of migratory workers in agriculture, dairy, logging and fishery.
Child Welfare Liaison Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with child placement agencies, county departments, the state department, and schools to ensure proper school placement, transfer and enrollment of foster children.
  • Work with all parties to ensure a foster child remains in an educational situation that promotes stability.
  • Work together with schools to ensure the transfer of education records with in five schooldays and also ensure the receiving school admits these children within five days of receipt of a student’s records.
Title VI NA American Indian Student Education Responsibilities:
  • Train secretaries and registrars in the registration of American Indian students and the correct completion of the Title VI ED 506 Indian Student Eligibility Certification Form.
  • Record and maintain accurate records of American Indian students 506 forms to record in the Title VI grant application and also at the IPP (Indian Policies and Procedures) meeting in the fall and the Public Hearing and PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) meetings in the spring.
  • Assist the Director of School Improvement and Grants and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Title VI budget and programing.
  • Collect a description of programing aligned to Title VI objectives from each teacher/school who receives funds from the grant at the end of every semester.
Testing platforms:
  • Provide support for teachers and para in the development and administration of interim assessments in Illuminate
  • Provide support in the following testing and recording platforms mclass, Zearn, Lexia, TS Gold, ACCESS, CMAS, Enrich and Read Act
